Surprise exit for our national no.1 men’s single, Lee Chong Wei. The second-seeded was beaten by ninth-seeded Sony Dwi Kuncoro.
Why so surprise? Hmmm… Actually it was not a surprise to me. Personally I don’t really think that he can win this Championship. He is not really good in handling the pressure. After the defeat, Chong Wei even blame it was chief coach’s fault (!!?)
Jaguh Kampong now cannot win in his own kampong.
Another surprise was given by national no. 1 women’s single, Wong Mew Choo. She beats World no.2 and two-time world champion Xie Xing fang by 21-10, 21-8! This is the first time for Malaysia women’s single to reach quarter final in World Badminton Championship.
Mew Choo goes into quarter together with women’s double Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui, and 2 pairs of men’s double, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.
